Band coming back to the US for the first time in four years… The Pixies have put together a visually impressive production for their “Doolittle Tour,” that kicks off its U.S. leg on Wednesday, November 4th in LA. Check out pics and tour dates below.

The “Doolittle Tour” is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of the Pixies’ classic 1989 album, Doolittle, with the band performing the album in its entirety plus its related B-sides. 11 films were created especially for the tour and four huge, undulating, eyeball-like spheres are flown just below the lighting rig as part of the concert’s light show. The U.S. “Doolittle Tour” will be the band’s first American trek since 2005. Most shows are already sold out. The “Doolittle” shows will coincide with the release of the ultimate Pixies Collector’s Set, Minotaur, which ships to purchasers in early November and will hit stores around the same time. With visual reference to the original videos of both “Here Comes Your Man” and “Head On,” this plays as the stage backdrop while the Pixies do “Here Comes Your Man” on their current Doolittle tour, which has been going through Europe this month and arrives in the U.S. via Los Angeles in two weeks, with opening acts.

The re-reunited Pixies kicked off their much-awaited 20th Anniversary Doolittle tour Thursday night with a high-energy 21-song set at Dublin’s Olympia Theater. Check out video below. Frank Black, Kim Deal and Co. started off, as promised, with four Doolittle-era rarities, including “Monkey Gone to Heaven” B-sides “Dancing The Manta Ray,” “Weird At My School,” and “Manta Ray,” as well as “Here Comes Your Man” B-side “Bailey’s Walk,” before tearing through their 1989 masterpiece’s 15 classic tracks.

“The first time I ever performed this song for anyone, I was at Kim Deal’s apartment,” Frank Black said of “Monkey Gone to Heaven” halfway through the set. “I was showing her some songs and trying to convince her to join my band. I always thought this was the song that convinced Kim Deal to join the Pixies.”

The band — original lead guitarist Joey Santiago and drummer David Lovering included — encored with “Here Comes Your Man” B-sides “Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf)” and “Into the White.” The Doolittle tour lands stateside on November 4 at the Palladium in Los Angeles. The 14-date U.S. trek is the band’s first since 2005.
